{"id":10498,"date":"2020-10-02T16:14:39","date_gmt":"2020-10-02T16:14:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/?p=10498"},"modified":"2020-10-02T16:14:39","modified_gmt":"2020-10-02T16:14:39","slug":"tropical-depression-25-forms-over-northwest-caribbean","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/?p=10498","title":{"rendered":"Tropical Depression 25 Forms over Northwest Caribbean"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tropical Depression Twentyfive formed over the Northwest Caribbean Sea on Friday morning.\u00a0 At 11:00 a.m. EDT on Friday the center of Tropical Depression Twentyfive was located at latitude 18.1\u00b0N and longitude 84.7\u00b0W which put it about 220 miles (355 km) southeast of Cozumel, Mexico.\u00a0 The depression was moving toward the northwest at 9 m.p.h. (15 km\/h).\u00a0 The maximum sustained wind speed was 35 m.p.h. (55 km\/h) and there were wind gusts to 45 m.p.h. (75 km\/h).\u00a0 The minimum surface pressure was 1005 mb.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">A Tropical Storm Warning was issued for the portion of the coast from Punta Herrero to Cabo Catoche, Mexico.\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Tropical Storm Watches were issued for the portions of the coast from Punta Herrero tp Puerto Costa Maya and from Cabo Catoche to Dzilam, Mexico.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>A distinct center of circulation was evident in satellite imagery within a broader area of low pressure over the Northwestern Caribbean Sea on Friday morning and the National Hurricane Center designated the system as Tropical Depression Twentyfive.\u00a0 The government of Mexico issued a Tropical Storm Warning and Tropical Storm Watches for parts of the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula.<\/p>\n<p>More thunderstorms were forming near the center of Tropical Depression Twentyfive.\u00a0 Bands of showers and thunderstorms were revolving around the center of the depression.\u00a0 Storms near the center of circulation started to generate upper level divergence which pumped mass away from the depression.<\/p>\n<p>Tropical Depression Twentyfive will move through an environment favorable for intensification during the next 24 hours.\u00a0 The depression will move over water where the Sea Surface Temperature is near 30\u00b0C.\u00a0 It will move under an upper level ridge over the Northwestern Caribbean Sea.\u00a0 The upper level winds are weak in the middle of the ridge and there will be little vertical wind shear.\u00a0 Tropical Depression Twentyfive is very likely to strengthen into a tropical storm during the next 12 to 24 hours.\u00a0 It could strengthen to a hurricane within 36 hours.<\/p>\n<p>Tropical Depression Twentyfive will move around the southwestern part of a subtropical high pressure system over the western Atlantic Ocean.\u00a0 The high will steer the depression toward the northwest during the next 24 to 36 hours.\u00a0 On its anticipated track Tropical Depression Twentyfive could approach the Yucatan Coast on Saturday.\u00a0 It will likely be a tropical storm when it approaches the coast, but it could strengthen into a hurricane by that time.\u00a0 A reconnaissance plane was on its way to investigate the depression and that will provide more information about its structure and intensity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tropical Depression Twentyfive formed over the Northwest Caribbean Sea on Friday morning.\u00a0 At 11:00 a.m. EDT on Friday the center of Tropical Depression Twentyfive was located at latitude 18.1\u00b0N and longitude 84.7\u00b0W which put it about 220 miles (355 km) southeast of Cozumel, Mexico.\u00a0 The depression was moving toward the northwest at 9 m.p.h.
