(13 km\/h).\u00a0 The maximum sustained wind speed was 50 m.p.h. (80 m.p.h.) and there were wind gusts to 65 m.p.h. (105 km\/h).\u00a0 The minimum surface pressure was 989 mb.\u00a0\u00a0 Linfa is bringing gusty winds and locally heavy rain to parts of northern Luzon.<\/p>\n<p>Linfa should continue to weaken during the next 12 to 18 hours while the center is over land.\u00a0 If the circulation is intact when it moves back over water, then the tropical storm may intensify once it gets north of the Philippines.\u00a0 Linfa will soon reach the western end of a subtropical ridge which has been steering it toward the west.\u00a0 When Linfa reaches the end of the ridge, it will likely turn toward the north.\u00a0 The tropical storm could approach Taiwan in 48 to 72 hours.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tropical Storm Linfa made landfall in northern Luzon on Saturday.\u00a0 At 11:00 p.m. EDT on Saturday the center of Tropical Storm Linfa was located at latitude 17.8\u00b0N and longitude 121.7\u00b0E which put it near Tuguegarao, Philippines.\u00a0 Linfa was moving toward the west at 8 m.p.h.
