{"id":20537,"date":"2024-07-04T21:24:06","date_gmt":"2024-07-04T21:24:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/?p=20537"},"modified":"2024-07-04T21:24:06","modified_gmt":"2024-07-04T21:24:06","slug":"tropical-storm-aletta-forms-west-of-mexico-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/?p=20537","title":{"rendered":"Tropical Storm Aletta Forms West of Mexico"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tropical Storm Aletta formed over the Eastern North Pacific Ocean west of Mexico on Thursday afternoon.\u00a0 This is the latest date for the formation of the first tropical storm over the Eastern North Pacific basin during the satellite era.\u00a0 At 5:00 p.m. EDT on Thursday the center of Tropical Storm Aletta was located at latitude 17.9\u00b0N and longitude 107.0\u00b0W which put the center about 190 miles (310 km) west-southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico.\u00a0 Aletta was moving toward the northwest at 10 m.p.h. (16 km\/h).\u00a0 The maximum sustained wind speed was 40 m.p.h. (65 km\/h) and there were wind gusts to 50 m.p.h. (80 km\/h).\u00a0 The minimum surface pressure was 1005 mb.<\/p>\n<p>A low pressure system over the Eastern North Pacific Ocean west of Mexico strengthened on Thursday afternoon and the U.S. National Hurricane Center designated the system as Tropical Storm Aletta.\u00a0 More thunderstorms formed near the center of Aletta&#8217;s circulation.\u00a0 Thunderstorms were also occurring in a band in the western part of Tropical Storm Aletta.\u00a0 Bands in the other parts of Aletta&#8217;s circulation consisted primarily of showers and lower clouds.\u00a0 Storm near the center of Aletta began to generate upper level divergence that pumped mass away from the tropical storm.<\/p>\n<p>The circulation around Tropical Storm Aletta was very small.\u00a0 Winds to tropical storm force extended out 45 miles (75 km) in the northern half of Aletta&#8217;s circulation.\u00a0 The winds in the souther half of Tropical Storm Aletta were blowing at less than tropical storm force.<\/p>\n<p>Tropical Storm Aletta will move into an environment that will become unfavorable for intensification during the next 24 hours.\u00a0 Aletta will move over water where the Sea Surface Temperatures are near 26\u00b0C.\u00a0 It will move under the southern part of an upper level ridge over the Southwest U.S.\u00a0 The upper level ridge will produce easterly wind that will blow toward the top of Aletta&#8217;s circulation.\u00a0 Those winds will cause moderate vertical wind shear.\u00a0 Tropical Storm Aletta could intensify a little during Thursday night, but cooler water and moderate wind shear are likely to end the intensification by Friday morning.\u00a0 Aletta is likely to weaken to a tropical depression on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Tropical Storm Aletta will move around the southern side of a high pressure system over the Eastern North Pacific Ocean.\u00a0 The high pressure system will steer Aletta toward the west during the next 24 hours.\u00a0 On its anticipated track, Tropical Storm Aletta will move farther away from the coast of Mexico.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tropical Storm Aletta formed over the Eastern North Pacific Ocean west of Mexico on Thursday afternoon.\u00a0 This is the latest date for the formation of the first tropical storm over the Eastern North Pacific basin during the satellite era.\u00a0 At 5:00 p.m. EDT on Thursday the center of Tropical Storm Aletta was located at latitude [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4,2],"tags":[389,1030,390,1027,24,1026],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/20537"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=20537"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/20537\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":20538,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/20537\/revisions\/20538"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=20537"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=20537"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=20537"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
