(24 km\/h).\u00a0 The maximum sustained wind speed was 65 m.p.h. (105 km\/h) and there were wind gusts to 80 m.p.h. (130 km\/h).\u00a0 The minimum surface pressure was 989 mb.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">A Hurricane Watch was in effect from the portion of the coast from the Mouth of the Rio Grande River to Sargent, Texas.\u00a0 The Hurricane Watch included Corpus Christi.\u00a0 A Hurricane Watch was also in effect for the portion of the coast from the Mouth of the Rio Grande River to Barra el Mezquital, Mexico<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>A Tropical Storm Warning was in effect for the portion of the coast from Campeche to Cabo Catoche, Mexico.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">A Storm Surge Watch was in effect for the portion of the coast from the Mouth of the Rio Grande River to Sargent, Texas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Former Hurricane Beryl weakened to a tropical storm as it moved across the northern part of the Yucatan Peninsula on Friday.\u00a0 An eye was no longer detectable on visible satellite images, but the core of Beryl&#8217;s circulation appeared to be relatively intact.\u00a0 Thunderstorms were still occurring near the center of Tropical Storm Beryl.\u00a0 Bands of showers and thunderstorms were revolving around the center of circulation.\u00a0 Storms near the center still generated upper level divergence that pumped mass away from the tropical storm.<\/p>\n<p>Winds to tropical storm force extended out 105 miles (165 km\/h) from the center of Tropical Storm Beryl.<\/p>\n<p>Tropical Storm Beryl will move around the southwestern part of a high pressure system over the southeastern U.S.\u00a0 The high pressure system will steer Beryl toward the northwest during the next 24 hours.\u00a0 On its anticipated track, Tropical Storm Beryl will move toward the coast of Texas.\u00a0 Beryl could approach the coast of Texas on Sunday night.<\/p>\n<p>Beryl will move into an environment that will become more favorable for intensification during the next 24 hours.\u00a0 Beryl will move over water where the Sea Surface Temperatures are near 29\u00b0C.\u00a0 It will move under the eastern part of an upper level low over the western Gulf of Mexico.\u00a0 The upper level low will produce southerly winds that will blow toward the top of Beryl\u2019s circulation.\u00a0 Those winds will cause some vertical wind shear.\u00a0 The wind shear will inhibit intensification, but the shear will not be enough to prevent strengthening.\u00a0 Tropical Storm Beryl is likely to strengthen slowly during the next 24 hours until the inner core of the circulation becomes more organized.\u00a0 Beryl could intensify more rapidly when it approaches the Texas coast on Sunday.\u00a0 Tropical Storm Beryl is very likely to intensify back to a hurricane.\u00a0 There is a chance Beryl could intensify to a major hurricane by the end of the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The risk posed by Tropical Storm Beryl prompted the issuance of Hurricane and Storm Watches for a portion of the coast of Texas.\u00a0 At 5:00 p.m. EDT on Friday the center of Tropical Storm Beryl was located at latitude 21.2\u00b0N and longitude 89.2\u00b0W which put the center about 35 miles (55 km) east-southwest of Progreso, [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[3,2],"tags":[378,377,3637,1067,3635,2039,789,24,2258,3324,112,1066],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/20553"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=20553"}],"version-history":[{"count":2,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/20553\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":20557,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/20553\/revisions\/20557"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=20553"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=20553"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=20553"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
