Tropical Storm Trami made landfall on the coast of Vietnam early on Sunday.\u00a0 At 5:00 a.m. EDT on Sunday the center of Tropical Storm Trami was located at latitude 16.0\u00b0N and longitude 107.7\u00b0E which put the center about 35 miles (55 km) west-northwest of Da Nang, Vietnam.\u00a0 Trami was moving toward the southwest at 8 m.p.h. (13 km\/h).\u00a0 The maximum sustained wind speed was 45 m.p.h. (75 km\/h) and there were wind gusts to 60 m.p.h. (95 km\/h).\u00a0 The minimum surface pressure was 996 mb.<\/p>\n
The center of Tropical Storm Trami made landfall on the coast of Vietnam near Da Nang early on Sunday.\u00a0 Trami was a relatively small tropical storm at the time of landfall.\u00a0 Winds to tropical storm force extended out 80 miles (130 km) from the center of Trami’s circulation.<\/p>\n
Tropical Storm Trami will move around the southern side of a high pressure system over eastern China.\u00a0 The high pressure system will steer Trami toward the southwest during the next 24 hours.\u00a0 On its anticipated track, the center of Tropical Storm Trami will move inland over Southeast Asia.<\/p>\n
Tropical Storm Trami will bring gusty winds and locally heavy rain to central Vietnam, southern Laos, northern Cambodia and northeastern Thailand.\u00a0 Heavy rain is likely to cause floods in some locations.<\/p>\n
Elsewhere over the Western North Pacific Ocean, Tropical Storm Kong-rey started to strengthen southeast of Taiwan.\u00a0 At 5:00 a.m. EDT on Sunday the center of Tropical Storm Kong-rey was located at latitude 16.3\u00b0N and longitude 131.6\u00b0E which put the center about 680 miles (1095 km) southeast of Taipei, Taiwan.\u00a0 Kong-rey was moving toward the west at 13 m.p.h. (20 km\/h).\u00a0 The maximum sustained wind speed was 45 m.p.h. (75 km\/h) and there were wind gusts to 60 m.p.h.
