{"id":21506,"date":"2024-11-02T13:55:35","date_gmt":"2024-11-02T13:55:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/?p=21506"},"modified":"2024-11-02T13:55:35","modified_gmt":"2024-11-02T13:55:35","slug":"tropical-depression-thirteen-e-strengthens-to-tropical-storm-lane","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/?p=21506","title":{"rendered":"Tropical Depression Thirteen-E Strengthens to Tropical Storm Lane"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former Tropical Depression Thirteen-E strengthened to Tropical Storm Lane during Friday night.\u00a0 At 5:00 a.m. EDT on Saturday the center of Tropical Storm Lane was located at latitude 11.1\u00b0N and longitude 129.5\u00b0W which put the center about 1525 miles (2455 km) west-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California.\u00a0 Lane was moving toward the west at 7 m.p.h. (11 km\/h).\u00a0 The maximum sustained wind speed was 40 m.p.h. (65 km\/h) and there were wind gusts to 50 m.p.h. (80 km\/h).\u00a0 The minimum surface pressure was 1005 mb.<\/p>\n<p>The circulation around formed Tropical Depression Thirteen-E strengthened during Friday night and the U.S. National Hurricane center designated the system as Tropical Storm Lane.\u00a0 The distribution of thunderstorms in Tropical Storm Lane was asymmetrical.\u00a0 The inner end of a band of thunderstorms wrapped around the northern side of the center of Lane&#8217;s circulation.\u00a0 Bands in the southern side of Tropical Storm Lane consisted primarily of showers and lower clouds.\u00a0 Storms near the center of Lane generated upper level divergence that pumped mass away to the east of the tropical storm.<\/p>\n<p>The strongest winds in Tropical Storm Lane were occurring in the band of thunderstorms north of the center of circulation.\u00a0 Winds to tropical storm force were occurring out to 45 miles (75 km) in the northern side of Lane&#8217;s circulation.\u00a0 The winds in the southern side of Tropical Storm Lane were blowing at less than tropical storm force.<\/p>\n<p>Tropical Storm Lane will move through an environment that will be only marginally favorable for intensification during the next 24 hours.\u00a0 Lane will move over water where the Sea Surface Temperatures are near 28\u00b0C.\u00a0 It will move under the southeastern part of an upper trough east of Hawaii.\u00a0 The upper level ridge will produce southwesterly winds that will blow toward the top of Lane\u2019s circulation.\u00a0 Those winds will cause the vertical wind shear to increase.\u00a0 The wind shear will inhibit intensification, but Tropical Storm Lane could intensify a little more during the next 12 hours.\u00a0 The upper level trough will cause the vertical wind shear to increase even more on Sunday, which will cause Lane to weaken<\/p>\n<p>Tropical Storm Lane will move south of a high pressure system over the Eastern North Pacific Ocean.\u00a0 The high pressure system will steer the Lane toward the west during the next 24 hours.\u00a0 On its anticipated track, Tropical Storm Lane will move remain far from any land areas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former Tropical Depression Thirteen-E strengthened to Tropical Storm Lane during Friday night.\u00a0 At 5:00 a.m. EDT on Saturday the center of Tropical Storm Lane was located at latitude 11.1\u00b0N and longitude 129.5\u00b0W which put the center about 1525 miles (2455 km) west-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California.\u00a0 Lane was moving toward the west [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4,2],"tags":[151,39,486,1157,1156],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/21506"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=21506"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/21506\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":21507,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/21506\/revisions\/21507"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=21506"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=21506"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=21506"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
