{"id":21544,"date":"2024-11-06T16:07:28","date_gmt":"2024-11-06T16:07:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/?p=21544"},"modified":"2024-11-06T16:07:28","modified_gmt":"2024-11-06T16:07:28","slug":"typhoon-yinxing-intensifies-to-equivalent-of-a-major-hurricane","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/?p=21544","title":{"rendered":"Typhoon Yinxing Intensifies to Equivalent of a Major Hurricane"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Typhoon Yinxing intensified to the equivalent of a major hurricane over the Western North Pacific Ocean east of northern Luzon on Wednesday morning.\u00a0 At 10:00 a.m. EST on Wednesday the center of Typhoon Yinxing was located at latitude 18.2\u00b0N and longitude 123.7\u00b0E which put the center about 135 miles (220 km) east of Aparri, Philippines.\u00a0 Yinxing was moving toward the west at 5 m.p.h. (8 km\/h).\u00a0 The maximum sustained wind speed was 115 m.p.h. (185 km\/h) and there were wind gusts to 145 m.p.h. (235 km\/h).\u00a0 The minimum surface pressure was 958 mb.<\/p>\n<p>Typhoon Yinxing intensified to the equivalent of a major hurricane east of Luzon on Wednesday morning.\u00a0 A circular eye was at the center of Yinxing&#8217;s circulation.\u00a0 A ring of thunderstorms surrounded the eye and the strongest winds were occurring in that ring of storms.\u00a0 Bands of showers and thunderstorms were revolving around the core of Typhoon Yinxing.\u00a0 Storms near the core generated upper level divergence that pumped mass away from the typhoon.\u00a0 The removal of mass caused the surface pressure to decrease.<\/p>\n<p>The circulation around Typhoon Yinxing was large.\u00a0 Winds to typhoon force extended out 40 miles from the center of Yinxing&#8217;s circulation.\u00a0 Winds to tropical storm force extended out 215 miles (345 km) from the center of Typhoon Yinxing.<\/p>\n<p>The Hurricane Intensity Index (HII) for Typhoon Yinxing was 20.6.\u00a0 The Hurricane Size Index (HSI) was 13.6 and the Hurricane Wind Intensity Size Index (HWISI) was 34.2.\u00a0 Typhoon Yinxing was similar in size and intensity to Hurricane Delta when Delta hit Louisiana in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Typhoon Yinxing will move through an environment favorable for intensification during the next 12 hours.\u00a0 Yinxing will move over water where the Sea Surface Temperatures are near 30\u00b0C.\u00a0 It will move under axis of an upper level ridge over the Western North Pacific Ocean.\u00a0 The upper level winds are weak near the axis of the ridge and there will be little vertical wind shear.\u00a0 Typhoon Yinxing will intensify during the next 12 hours.<\/p>\n<p>Typhoon Yinxing will move around the southern part of a high pressure system over the Western North Pacific Ocean.\u00a0 The high pressure system will steer Yinxing toward the west during the next 24 hours.\u00a0 On its anticipated track, Typhoon Yinxing will reach northern Luzon in 18 hours.<\/p>\n<p>Typhoon Yinxing will bring strong, gusty winds and heavy rain to northern Luzon.\u00a0 Heavy rain will cause flash floods and mudslides.\u00a0 Yinxing will cause widespread power outages.\u00a0 Typhoon Yinxing could cause a storm surge of up to 10 feet (3 meters) along the coast of northern Luzon.\u00a0 Yinxing will be capable of causing regional major damage.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Typhoon Yinxing intensified to the equivalent of a major hurricane over the Western North Pacific Ocean east of northern Luzon on Wednesday morning.\u00a0 At 10:00 a.m. EST on Wednesday the center of Typhoon Yinxing was located at latitude 18.2\u00b0N and longitude 123.7\u00b0E which put the center about 135 miles (220 km) east of Aparri, Philippines.\u00a0 [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2,5],"tags":[239,1817,650,103,64,3795,240,3794],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/21544"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=21544"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/21544\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":21545,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/21544\/revisions\/21545"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=21544"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=21544"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=21544"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
