Tropical Storm Danas was nearing eastern China on Monday evening.\u00a0 At 11:00 p.m. EDT on Monday the center of Tropical Storm Danas was located at latitude 28.1\u00b0N and longitude 122.0\u00b0E which put the center about 80 miles (130 km) east of Wenzhou, China and about 50 miles (80 km) southeast of Taizhou, China.\u00a0 Danas was moving toward the north at 6 m.p.h. (10 km\/h).\u00a0 The maximum sustained wind speed was 45 m.p.h. (75 km\/h) and there were wind gusts to 60 m.p.h. (95 km\/h).\u00a0 The minimum surface pressure was 992 mb.<\/p>\n
Even though Tropical Storm Danas was over the East China Sea on Monday, Danas’ circulation was still disrupted from the affects of its passage over Taiwan on Sunday.\u00a0 The distribution of thunderstorms in Tropical Storm Danas was asymmetrical.\u00a0 Thunderstorms were occurring in bands in the southern part of Danas’ circulation.\u00a0 Bands in the northern side of Tropical Storm Danas consisted primarily of showers and lower clouds.<\/p>\n
Winds to tropical storm force extended out 90 miles (145 km) from the center of Tropical Storm Danas.<\/p>\n
Tropical Storm Danas will move through an environment that will be somewhat favorable for intensification during the next few hours. Danas will move over water where where the Sea Surface Temperatures are near 29\u00b0C.\u00a0 It will move under the middle of an upper level ridge over East China Sea.\u00a0 The upper level winds are weak near the middle of the ridge and there will be little vertical wind shear.\u00a0 Even though Tropical Storm Danas will move through a somewhat favorable environment, Danas may not intensify because of the disruption of its circulation during the passage over Taiwan.<\/p>\n
Tropical Storm Danas will move around the southern side of a high pressure system over eastern Asia.\u00a0 The high pressure system will steer Danas toward the west during the next 24 hours.\u00a0 On its anticipated track, Tropical Storm Danas will move over eastern China in a few hours.<\/p>\n
The center of Tropical Storm Danas is likely to make landfall in China between Taizhou and Wenzhou.\u00a0 Danas will bring gusty winds and locally heavy rain to Zhejiang.\u00a0 Heavy rain could cause floods in some locations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
