Tropical Depression Twelve-E formed over the Eastern North Pacific Ocean near the west coast of Mexico on Monday evening.\u00a0 At 11:00 p.m. EDT on Monday the center of Tropical Depression Twelve-E was located at latitude 17.2\u00b0N and longitude 105.4\u00b0W which put the center about 145 miles (230 km) south-southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico.\u00a0 Tropical Depression Twelve-E was moving toward the west-northwest at 14 m.p.h. (22 km\/h).\u00a0 The maximum sustained wind speed was 35 m.p.h. (55 km\/h) and there were wind gusts to 45 m.p.h. (75 km\/h).\u00a0 The minimum surface pressure was 1007 mb.<\/p>\n
A low pressure system over the Eastern North Pacific Ocean strengthened on Monday evening and the U.S. National Hurricane Center designated the system as Tropical Depression Twelve-E.<\/p>\n
The circulation around Tropical Depression Twelve-E exhibited more organization on Monday evening.\u00a0 More thunderstorms formed near the center of the tropical depression.\u00a0 More thunderstorms also developed in bands revolving around the center of Tropical Depression Twelve-E.\u00a0 Storms near the center of circulation began to generate upper level divergence that pumped mass away from the tropical depression.<\/p>\n
Tropical Depression Twelve-E will move through an environment favorable for intensification during the next 24 hours.\u00a0 The tropical depression will move over water where the Sea Surface Temperatures are near 30\u00b0C.\u00a0 It will move under the southern part of an upper level ridge over Mexico.\u00a0 The upper level ridge will produce easterly winds that will blow toward the top of the tropical depression.\u00a0 The winds in the lower levels of the atmosphere will also blow from the east.\u00a0 So, there will be little vertical wind shear.\u00a0 Tropical Depression Twelve-E will intensify to a tropical storm on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Tropical Depression Twelve-E will move around the western end of a high pressure system over Mexico.\u00a0 The high pressure system will steer the tropical depression toward the northwest during the next 24 hours.\u00a0 On its anticipated track, Tropical Depression Twelve-E will move toward Baja California.<\/p>\n
Elsewhere over the Eastern North Pacific Ocean, Tropical Storm Kiko intensified on Monday.\u00a0 At 11:00 p.m. EDT on Monday the center of Tropical Storm Kiko was located at latitude 13.8\u00b0N and longitude 127.3\u00b0W which put the center about 1880 miles (3025 km) east Hilo Hawaii.\u00a0 Kiko was moving toward the west at 7 m.p.h. (11 km\/h).\u00a0 The maximum sustained wind speed was 65 m.p.h. (105 km\/h) and there were wind gusts to 80 m.p.h.
