Former Typhoon Sinlaku weakened to a tropical storm on Saturday.\u00a0 At 5:00 p.m. EDT on Saturday the center of Tropical Storm Sinlaku was located at latitude 25.8\u00b0N and longitude 149.2\u00b0E which put the center about 450 miles (730 km) east of Iwo To.\u00a0 Sinlaku was moving toward the northeast at 16 m.p.h. (26 km\/h).\u00a0 The maximum sustained wind speed was 65 m.p.h. (105 km\/h) and there were wind gusts to 80 m.p.h. (130 km\/h).\u00a0 The minimum surface pressure was 983 mb.<\/p>\n
Former Typhoon Sinlaku weakened to a tropical storm as it moved over cooler water on Saturday.\u00a0 Many of the remaining thunderstorms in Tropical Storm Sinlaku dissipated on Saturday.\u00a0 There were still some thunderstorms in bands in the eastern side of Sinlaku’s circulation.\u00a0 The bands in the other parts of Tropical Storm Sinlaku consisted primarily of showers and lower clouds.\u00a0 There was very little upper level divergence from Tropical Storm Sinlaku.\u00a0 The convergence of mass in the lower levels of the atmosphere caused the surface pressure to continue to increase.<\/p>\n
The circulation around Tropical Storm Sinlaku was still large.\u00a0 Winds to tropical storm force extended out 250 miles (400 km) from the center of Sinlaku’s circulation.<\/p>\n
Tropical Storm Sinlaku will move through an environment that will be unfavorable for intensification during the next 24 hours . Sinlaku will move over water where the Sea Surface Temperatures are near 23\u00b0C.\u00a0 It will move under the southeastern part of an upper level trough that is southeast of Japan.\u00a0 The upper level trough will produce southwesterly winds that will blow toward the top of Sinlaku\u2019s circulation.\u00a0 Those winds will cause moderate vertical wind shear.\u00a0 Sinlaku will also continue to pull drier air into its circulation.\u00a0 The drier air will continue to to inhibit the development of new thunderstorms in the rainbands revolving around the center of Sinlaku\u2019s circulation.\u00a0 The cooler Sea Surface Temperatures, moderate vertical wind shear and drier air will cause Tropical Storm Sinlaku to continue to weaken during the next 24 hours.<\/p>\n
Tropical Storm Sinlaku will move around the northwestern part of a high pressure system that is over the Western North Pacific Ocean.\u00a0 The high pressure system will steer Sinlaku toward the northeast during the next 24 hours.\u00a0 On its anticipated track, Tropical Storm Sinlaku will continue to move away from Iwo To.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
