Tropical Depression 04E formed over the Eastern North Pacific Ocean southwest of Baja California on Tuesday night.\u00a0 At 5:00 a.m. EDT on Wednesday the center of Tropical Depression 04E was located at latitude 14.5\u00b0N and longitude 126.9\u00b0W which put the center about 1250 miles (2015 km) west-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California.\u00a0 The tropical depression was moving toward the north-northwest at 7 m.p.h. (11 km\/h).\u00a0 The maximum sustained wind speed was 35 m.p.h. (55 km\/h) and there were wind gusts to 45 m.p.h. (75 km\/h).\u00a0 The minimum surface pressure was 1005 mb.<\/p>\n
A low pressure system over the Eastern North Pacific Ocean southwest of Baja California strengthened on Tuesday night and the U.S. National Hurricane Center designated the system as Tropical Depression 04E.<\/p>\n
The distribution of thunderstorms in Tropical Depression 04E was asymmetrical.\u00a0 Thunderstorms were occurring in bands in the southern and eastern parts of the tropical depression.\u00a0 Bands in the northern and western parts of Tropical Depression 04E consisted primarily of showers and lower clouds.\u00a0 Storms near the center of circulation began to generate upper level divergence that pumped mass away from the tropical depression.<\/p>\n
Tropical Depression 04E will move through an environment that will be mostly favorable for intensification during the next 24 hours.\u00a0 The tropical depression will move over water where the Sea Surface Temperatures are near 27\u00b0C.\u00a0 It will move under the middle of an upper level ridge that is southwest of Baja California.\u00a0 The upper level winds are weak near the middle of the ridge and there will be little vertical wind shear.\u00a0 There is some drier air north and west of the tropical depression.\u00a0 The drier air could limit the development of thunderstorms in those parts of the tropical depression.\u00a0 Tropical Depression 04E could intensify to a tropical storm if the drier air does not get pulled into the center of its circulation.<\/p>\n
Tropical Depression 04E will move around the southwestern part of a high pressure system that is over the Eastern North Pacific Ocean.\u00a0 The high pressure system will steer the tropical depression toward the north-northwest during the next 24 hours.\u00a0 On its anticipated track, Tropical Depression 04E will remain far to the southwest of Baja California.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
