{"id":266,"date":"2014-12-11T04:59:42","date_gmt":"2014-12-11T04:59:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/?p=266"},"modified":"2014-12-11T04:59:42","modified_gmt":"2014-12-11T04:59:42","slug":"hagupit-a-tropical-storm-for-one-more-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/?p=266","title":{"rendered":"Hagupit a Tropical Storm for One More Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thunderstorms continue to develop intermittently near the center of Hagupit and it is producing enough deep convection to maintain its status as a tropical storm.\u00a0 At 10:00 p.m. EST on Wednesday the center of Tropical Storm Hagupit was located at latitude 13.2\u00b0N and longitude 113.1\u00b0E which put it about 275 miles east-northeast of Cam Ranh, Vietnam and about 460 miles east-northeast of Ho Chi Minh City.\u00a0 Hagupit was moving toward the west-southwest at 9 m.p.h.\u00a0 The maximum sustained wind speed was 40 m.p.h.\u00a0 and there were gusts to 50 m.p.h.<\/p>\n<p>Although Hagupit is moving over warm Sea Surface Temperatures, the rest of the environmental factors are unfavorable for intensification.\u00a0 Northeasterly winds over the South China Sea are transporting cooler and drier air, which is wrapping around the western and southern parts of Hagupit&#8217;s circulation.\u00a0 There is also significant vertical wind shear, which is tilting the circulation.\u00a0 The tight low level center of circulation is producing enough convergence to continue generating some new thunderstorms near the center, but the convection is becoming more intermittent.\u00a0 Hagupit is likely to slowly weaken during the next 24 hours as a result of the mainly hostile environment around it.<\/p>\n<p>The northeasterly winds are likely to push Hagupit toward the west-southwest or southwest during the next 24 hours.\u00a0 The projected track would bring Hagupit to the coast of Vietnam near Cam Ranh in about 24 hours.\u00a0 It is likely to have minimal impact when it makes landfall.\u00a0 There could be a period of gustier winds and an increase in rainfall, but Hagupit could dissipate fairly quickly as it moves inland.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thunderstorms continue to develop intermittently near the center of Hagupit and it is producing enough deep convection to maintain its status as a tropical storm.\u00a0 At 10:00 p.m. EST on Wednesday the center of Tropical Storm Hagupit was located at latitude 13.2\u00b0N and longitude 113.1\u00b0E which put it about 275 miles east-northeast of Cam Ranh, [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2,5],"tags":[63],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/266"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=266"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/266\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":267,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/266\/revisions\/267"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=266"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=266"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=266"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
