{"id":273,"date":"2014-12-30T05:00:12","date_gmt":"2014-12-30T05:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/?p=273"},"modified":"2014-12-30T05:29:42","modified_gmt":"2014-12-30T05:29:42","slug":"tropical-storm-jangmi-moving-across-the-sulu-sea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/?p=273","title":{"rendered":"Tropical Storm Jangmi Moving across the Sulu Sea"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tropical Storm Jangmi moved across Mindanao and the center passed near Cebu.\u00a0 It has now moved back over the open waters of the Sulu Sea.\u00a0 At 11:00 p.m. EST on Monday the center of Tropical Storm Jangmi was located at latitude 10.4\u00b0N and longitude 121.0\u00b0E which put it about 320 miles south of Manila, about 200 miles east-northeast of Puerto Princesa and about 1300 miles east-northeast of Singapore.\u00a0 Jangmi was moving toward the west at 11 m.p.h.\u00a0 The maximum sustained wind speed was 45 m.p.h. and there were gusts to 60 m.p.h.<\/p>\n<p>Thunderstorms are beginning to redevelop near the center of circulation now that it has moved back over water.\u00a0 The low level center appears to be relatively intact after its passage over some of the islands in the southern Philippines.\u00a0 Easterly winds in the upper levels are generating some wind shear, but there is well developed upper level outflow on the northern side of Jangmi.\u00a0 It will be moving over warm Sea Surface Temperatures and some intensification is possible as it moves westward.<\/p>\n<p>Jangmi is being steered to the west by a subtropical ridge located to its north.\u00a0 The general westward motion is expected to continue in the short term.\u00a0 Eventually, northeasterly winds are expected to push Jangmi in a more west-southwesterly direction over the next few days.\u00a0 The projected track is expected to take the center across Palawan near Puerto Princesa in about 24 hours.\u00a0 The west-southwesterly motion is expected to continue and it could take Jangmi in the general direction of Malaysia.<\/p>\n<p>Jangmi could bring some locally heavy rainfall to parts of Palawan and some flooding and landslides are possible.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tropical Storm Jangmi moved across Mindanao and the center passed near Cebu.\u00a0 It has now moved back over the open waters of the Sulu Sea.\u00a0 At 11:00 p.m. EST on Monday the center of Tropical Storm Jangmi was located at latitude 10.4\u00b0N and longitude 121.0\u00b0E which put it about 320 miles south of Manila, about [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2,5],"tags":[70,69,64,71],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/273"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=273"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/273\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":276,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/273\/revisions\/276"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=273"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=273"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=273"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
