Tropical Storm Kirogi brought locally heavy rain to southern Vietnam on Saturday night.\u00a0 At 10:00 p.m. EST on Saturday night the center of Tropical Storm Kirogi was located at latitude 10.4\u00b0N and longitude 109.8\u00b0E which put it about 220 miles (355 km) east of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.\u00a0 Kirogi was moving toward the west at 13 m.p.h. (21 km\/h).\u00a0 The maximum sustained wind speed was 40 m.p.h. (65 km\/h) and there were wind gusts to 50 m.p.h. (80 km\/h).\u00a0 The minimum surface pressure was 1001 mb.<\/p>\n
Kirogi is a small tropical storm.\u00a0 Winds to tropical storm force extend out about 90 miles (145 km) from the center of circulation.\u00a0 The circulation is compact and circular.\u00a0 Most of the strong storms are in the western half of the circulation.\u00a0 There are numerous bands of lighter showers in eastern half of the circulation.\u00a0 An upper level ridge north of Kirogi is producing easterly winds which are blowing toward the top of the circulation.\u00a0 The vertical wind shear is causing the asymmetrical distribution of the stronger storms.<\/p>\n
The ridge is steering Tropical Storm Kirogi toward the west.\u00a0 The center of Tropical Storm Kirogi will make landfall on the coast of Vietnam near Ham Thuan Nam in a few hours.\u00a0 Kirogi will continue moving west toward Ho Chi Minh City and then over southeastern Cambodia.\u00a0 Tropical Storm Kirogi will drop locally heavy rain along the coast from Nha Trang to the Mouths of the Mekong River.\u00a0 Kirogi will also be capable of producing heavy heavy over parts of the southern Cambodia.\u00a0 The rainfall could be heavy enough to cause flooding in some locations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
