{"id":6499,"date":"2018-08-29T22:00:16","date_gmt":"2018-08-29T22:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/?p=6499"},"modified":"2018-08-29T22:00:16","modified_gmt":"2018-08-29T22:00:16","slug":"miriam-and-norman-become-hurricanes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/?p=6499","title":{"rendered":"Miriam and Norman Become Hurricanes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Both former Tropical Storm Miriam and Tropical Storm Norman strengthened into hurricanes over the Eastern North Pacific on Wednesday afternoon.\u00a0 At 5:00 p.m. EDT on Wednesday the center of Hurricane Miriam was located at latitude 14.0\u00b0N and longitude 139.7\u00b0W which put it about 1090 miles east of Hilo, Hawaii.\u00a0 Miriam was moving toward the west at 9 m.p.h.\u00a0 The maximum sustained wind speed was 75 m.p.h. (120 km\/h) and there were wind gusts to 90 m.p.h. (145 km\/h).\u00a0 The minimum surface pressure was 992 mb.<\/p>\n<p>At 5:00 p.m. EDT on Wednesday the center of Hurricane Norman was located at latitude 17.6\u00b0N and longitude 116.9\u00b0W which put it about 545 miles (875 km) southwest of the southern tip of Baja California.\u00a0 Norman was moving toward the west at 9 m.p.h. (15 km\/h).\u00a0 The maximum sustained wind speed was 75 m.p.h. (120 km\/h) and there were wind gusts t0 90 m.p.h.
