{"id":7918,"date":"2019-07-13T16:24:24","date_gmt":"2019-07-13T16:24:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/?p=7918"},"modified":"2019-07-13T16:24:24","modified_gmt":"2019-07-13T16:24:24","slug":"barry-strengthens-into-a-hurricane-near-the-louisiana-coast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jayhobgood.com\/?p=7918","title":{"rendered":"Barry Strengthens Into a Hurricane Near the Louisiana Coast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former Tropical Storm Barry strengthened into a hurricane on Saturday morning.\u00a0 The National Hurricane Center designated Barry as a hurricane on Saturday morning based on data from surface weather stations and from reconnaissance aircraft.\u00a0 At 11:00 a.m. EDT on Saturday the center of Hurricane Barry was located at latitude 29.6\u00b0N and longitude 92.0\u00b0W which put it about 40 miles (65 km) south of Lafayette, Louisiana.\u00a0 Barry was moving toward the northwest at 6 m.p.h. (10 km\/h).\u00a0 The maximum sustained wind speed was 75 m.p.h. (120 km\/h) and there were wind gusts to 90 m.p.h. (145 km\/h).\u00a0 The minimum surface pressure was 993 mb.<\/p>\n<p>A Hurricane Warning is in effect for the portion of the coast from Intracoastal City to Grand Isle, Louisiana. A Hurricane Watch has been issued for the portion of the coast from Intracoastal City to Cameron, Louisiana. Tropical Storm Warnings are in effect for the portions of the coast from the Mouth of the Pearl River to Grand Isle, Louisiana and from Intracoastal City to Sabine Pass, Louisiana.
